Hari Mandir - Pune Prarthana Samaj

The Prayer hall of Pune Prarthana Samaj, “Harimandir” stands on a plot of land admeasuring about 1700 sq.m. which was single handedly purchased and donated to the Samaj by Justice M. G. Ranade in the year 1878 Construction of Harimandir was started in the year 1907 under the leadership of Dr. Sir R. G. Bhandarkar. The entire cost was borne by the Samaj Members. Sizable contribution was made by Dr. Bhandarkar himself. Contribution also came from Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj of Kolhapur and Maharaja Sayajirao Gaikwad of Baroda who both were supporters of social reforms. A leaflet regarding the details about the construction and consecration of Harimandir was published.
