The building was completed in August 1939 and is located in the area of Ahlström Estate. Harry Gullichsen was the CEO of A. Ahlström Oy at the time. Maire Gullichsen was a collector and a patron of the arts. Her foreign art collection is displayed at Villa Mairea. The building is one of the most significant private homes of the modernist era and is considered one of Aalto’s best works.
